We are excited to introduce to you a new treatment available at The Physiotherapy Clinic, Stotfold – Radial Shockwave therapy. Originally used for the surgery free disintegration of kidney stones, radial shock wave therapy has developed into an efficient treatment for orthopaedic problems. Shock waves, which are actually mechanical pressure waves, are a widely used technique for the treatment of diseases of muscles, tendons and tendon attachment sites. The average application consists of one or two treatment sessions weekly, for a total of 3 – 6 treatment sessions.  A treatment session applies approximately 2000 pulses and takes about 10 minutes. During the appointment, we will then fully assess the patients condition and give advice and exercises to assist recovery. A single Radial Shockwave session is estimated to have the same or greater effect as 6 – 8 sessions of deep friction massage!
