Women’s Health Physiotherapy
There are a wide range of conditions that can be treated and helped by a Women’s Health Physiotherapist which include:
- Stress urinary incontinence including and over active bladder. (Leakage when you don’t make it in time or having to urinate frequently)
- Pelvic organ prolapsed
- Faecal incontinence
- Sexual discomfort
- Weak pelvic floor muscles following childbirth
- Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain problems
- Post-natal treatment of ‘split’ stomach muscles
- Post operative treatment of breast cancer (including post lumpectomy or mastectomy and reconstructive surgery)
- Post gynaecology surgery
Women’s Health Physiotherapy is specifically recommended as the first line of treatment by The World Health Organisation (WHO) for women with stress, urge or mixed urinary incontinence. Most women with these symptoms can reduce or even be rid of the problem with physiotherapy advice and treatment, yet it has been shown that ladies often take 10 years before they seek help.
